In 2019 we joined the inaugural season of the Maine Flag Football League (MFFL) and partnered with NFL Flag and it was a great success.  Kids wore NFL team flag jerseys and belts and competed against other towns in the Greater Portland area.  Our flag football season begins in early-September, with a focus on fun, athleticism and the fundamentals of non-contact football.  It is fast paced, and gives kids a chance to learn offensive plays and the fundamentals of teamwork.  The program is for grades K-6 (boys and girls) and players are assigned teams based on age. Games are played on Saturdays, however there is always the potential for changes in the schedule and seasonal tournaments can fluctuate to Sundays as well (times and dates TBD).  Typically teams will also have one to two practices per week. This program relies heavily on volunteers who are willing to coach the kids and help supervise the games.  Flag football is great for kids who have never played football, as well as for kids who have played and want to work on their ball-handling and offensive skills.
