About us
Welcome to Falmouth Football
We hope your experience with the program is a good one and you take pride in being part of the Falmouth Football family!
A Brief History of Falmouth Football
The Falmouth Football program started in 1998 when we played our first youth games by joining with Cumberland to form one team. Two years later our first high school team was created as a club sport, and in 2003 football was officially recognized as a sanctioned sport at Falmouth High School. The early years were challenging with team rosters of less than 25 players consequently, Falmouth suffered lopsided losses. It was a character building beginning. The program persevered because of the players’ love of the game. In the first five years we had three different Head Coaches and never had a winning season. Our current Head Coach, John Fitzsimmons, took over in 2006. By 2008 & 2009 the high school program had achieved its first back-to-back winning seasons and playoff appearance. Over the last five years (2010-2015) we were in the playoffs for four out of five years. In 2015, Falmouth won its first league championship, but came up one game short of playing in the state championship.
Our football program is a strong partnership between our athletes, the school, Boosters and community. All of us worked together to build a first class program, which included building a new turf stadium in 2010. Falmouth has one of the best venues in the state to play and watch a game. Falmouth High School is recognized both for its high academic standards and high performing athletic teams. It is with pride that we have watched our football program earn respect throughout the state as an annual league contender. The program’s success is directly attributable to the partnership that nurtured us in the beginning, stayed committed through the challenging years and continues to support us on our quest for program excellence. In 2022, we made it to the Class B North Finals, a strong showing for a competitive season. For 2024 our High School team will continue to play in Class B North. See you at the field for Friday Night Lights!
